BILTON HOUSE CARE HOME

Bilton House was established by The Free Churches of Rugby as a residential home for older people in 1946. It is a registered charity. The aim of the charity is to provide a home for the care of older people within the liberal Free Church traditions, and to enable each resident to continue living as independently as possible.

Services of worship are an important part of the Christian ethos of the home and Bilton House is fortunate in having a Home Chaplain who visits regularly. A services is held every Sunday and Wednesday, led by ministers and members of the local Churches. Residents can of course choose whether or when to join in, but most look forward to both occasions each week.

The Free Churches of Rugby are very active within the home and contribute to a strong Christian fellowship which is the main ethos of Bilton house.

Friends and relatives are always welcome. There are no set time limits or timetable, although we have now come into line with hospitals and introduced protected meal times. Visitors are asked to sign in and out for reasons of security but there are no other formalities. Residents can meet their visitors in their own rooms, in any of the lounges or in the garden on a fine day (wherever they feel most comfortable).

Worship & Church Support

Bilton House is governed by a board of trustees from the free churches and is activity supported by their congregations. Fund raising events such as Coffee Mornings are overseen and organised by "the Friends of Bilton House" and proceeds used to pay for outings and entertainment that enrich the lives of our residents. An annual Garden Party organised by the churches is one of the summer social highlights.

We also enjoy the support of the local schools who visit to sing carols before Christmas, or hymns at Easter.

Activities

Bilton House activities are arranged with a holistic approach to care (physical, social, spiritual) and a knowledge of individual preference. Our Activities Organiser arranges an enjoyable variety of activities eg, armchair exercises, craft sessions and trips out for coffee.

Throughout the winter months the Friends of Bilton House arrange evening entertainment within the home.

Visiting Services

A hairdresser, a chiropodist, an optician and a dentist visit the house on a regular basis. Residents pay for these services individually.
